Rome Clean and Green is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the environment and quality of life in Rome, NY. As a proud affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, we empower residents, businesses, and volunteers to take action in creating cleaner, greener spaces.

What We Do

We focus on three core areas that make a lasting impact:
End Littering
We promote personal responsibility and community action to reduce waste and keep our streets, parks, and neighborhoods clean.
Improve Recycling
Through education and accessible programs, we help residents recycle more and waste less in our community and beyond.
Beautify Our City
From planting flowers and trees to revitalizing public spaces, we’re enhancing the look and feel of Rome every day.

Upcoming Cleanup Events
Great American Cleanup Kickoff!
The Greatest American Cleanup. For America’s 250th Anniversary Keep America Beautiful goal is to pick up 25 billion pieces of litter by July 4.
When: Saturday, April 25, 2026 |
Time: Kick-off at 9:00 a.m.
Where: Rome City Hall (198 N. Washington St.)
Plant Swap: Plantz & Plants
After a morning of cleaning, spend your Sunday afternoon growing! Join fellow garden enthusiasts at our local plant & seed swap. Whether you’re a master gardener or just starting your first windowsill herb garden, all are welcome.
When: Sunday, April 26, 2026
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Copper City Brewing Company with music by Chad Plantz & the Whiz
The Details: Bring healthy plants, cuttings, or seeds to trade. It’s a great way to diversify your garden and meet your neighbors! We will also be accepting new members to Rome Clean & Green and we have received some incredible donations for giveaways!
Good Neighbor Day Cleanup
Resurrection Life Church and Rome Clean and Green host a Good Neighbor Day cleanup.
Rome Lights Event
Rome Lights Fest 5k. Nov. 27, 5pm, Rome City Hall. Rome Clean and Green hosts a nighttime 5k to see the city lights! The run/walk is followed by the City of Rome’s Christmas Tree Lighting and fireworks. More information soon!
